Carmen de Paz Nieves is the Department Head of IDEAS International Network and has worked on poverty reduction, economic management and human development (social protection, migration and labour markets) for the World Bank and the World Health Organization in different regions of the world. She has also worked as an economist in Rumania and Peru for the Spanish embassies in those countries.
 

She holds a degree in Law, Administration and Management from the Universidad Carlos III and also studied at the University of Maastricht, Holland. She holds a Master's Degree in Public Policies and Public Administration from the London School of Economics.
