ANNOUNCEMENT FOR YOUNG OFFICIALS 2010

The Federal Secretariat for organization of the PSOE together with the Jaime Vera Institute will start in September 2010 a new Intensive Training Program on Leadership and Politics to train Young Officials. This plan is meant to cover the training needs of Young Officials of the PSOE, but it is also meant to contribute to the creation of ideas and values from the debate and active participation from attendants and speakers.
The courses are offered to young people belonging to the Spanish Socialist Party, aged between 22 and 30 years, with some political experience and/or who are members of the PSOE at the JSE.

INTRODUCTION
|
IDEAS for Progress Foundation was approved at the 37th Federal Congress of the PSOE with the responsibility to integrate and coordinate the existing socialist foundations at the state level. In December 2008, it was legally incorporated and started operating in April 2009. From that moment a progressive think tank that did not exist before, was created.
Since last January 1st, IDEAS Foundation has extended its objectives and competences by integrating the Jaime Vera, Ramón Rubial and Pablo Iglesias Institutes as well as the Global Progress Council.
After being incorporated into the IDEAS Foundation, the Jaime Vera Institute has become a space dedicated to training, the socialization of knowledge and the debate and exchange of experiences. For this, it develops permanent training activities , on-site classes as well as online courses for socialist members and leaders.
The new Jaime Vera Institute aims to take advantage of the synergies derived from this integration to face up more efficiently to its core activity: guarantee the right to training of members of the PSOE and make training a useful and efficient tool to improve the political action of the socialists at all levels.

HISTORY
The institute owes its name to Mr. Jaime Vera López (1858-1918), one of the founders of the Spanish Socialist Party together with Pablo Iglesias, in the particularly tumultuous decades of the end of the 19th century. He took part in the shaping of the party, but especially in the elaboration and dissemination process of its ideology. To honor his pedagogical and training work in the values and socialist ideals, the Jaime Vera Institute has gained experience throughout more than three decades offering training members of our Party. During these 30 years, thousands of socialists have attended the courses, symposiums and seminars offered by the Jaime Vera Institute, enhancing its activities and multiplying their actions with the potential of their training received. For this reason, the Jaime Vera Institute is a strong reference in political training and above all, has become a real school of democracy, coexistence, and citizenship.

STRATEGIC PLAN OF THE INSTITUTE
To develop this Training model, the Jaime Vera Institute has a Strategic Plan which includes an array of training resources organized around the following working lines:
- PERMANENT TRAINING FOR MEMBERS, FOLLOWERS OF THE PSOE AND PROGRESSIVE CITIZENS
Based on the several on-site and online courses, it is focused on the learning of techniques and political and marketing communication tools, electoral and sociological analysis and the identification of the priorities of political action of the socialists in their activity in the government, at different levels or in the opposition. All this is aimed at optimizing our job as politicians and to provide our members with useful knowledge that adjusts to real needs, and to our members, organic and public officials in their everyday activities.
- ADVANCED TRAINING IN SOCIAL SCIENCES AND ECONOMICS AND PUBLIC MANAGEMENT WITH AN ACADEMIC AND PROGRESSIVE APPROACH
The Jaime Vera Institute offers many possibilities to deepen the knowledge in the areas of social sciences, economics and public management, from a progressive approach through specialized private certificates and official diplomas in collaboration with public universities, thus contributing to the generation of progressive thinking and discourse and facilitating training and permanent, expert recycling as an instrument to give solutions to the realities and the challenges of a changing society in constant transformation.
TRAINING FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF STRATEGIC PROJECTS OF THE ORGANIZATION SECRETARIAT OF THE PSOE
At the last Congress of the PSOE, the CEF and particularly the Secretariat for organization, was entrusted with the development of new lines for participation for all the members and progressive citizens, taking advantage of the possibilities offered by new information and communication technologies and the tools for socio-electoral analysis. For this, the Jaime Vera Institute has been entrusted with the responsibility to support these programs, focused on the strengthening of participation, the modernization of the organization, the development of activism on the Internet and the design of strategies of active participation to social reality as well as the training model of the PSOE in a decentralized way.
