Humanity is living in an age of profound and rapid changes driven by the technological revolution and the demise of the system of opposing ideological blocs.
The process of globalization continues, beyond the economic and security crisis, increasing the interdependence between human beings, although it, globalization that is, is unbalanced and unfair.
The nation state, as an area for the realization of sovereignty, democracy and governance during the industrial era, is insufficient to stand up to the challenges of the new era, without the emergence of new forms of governance consistent for the new global reality.
In historical terms, the genuine revolutions are those that change the cultural relations between human beings because they establish a new communication system. This is happening with the technology revolution, which allows us to know in real-time what happens anywhere in the world.
When a change of this magnitude and velocity, the human being as a historical being, loses some of its references, stubbles upon a reality that is difficult to interpret with the learned codes and suffers from the consequent anguish of uncertainty.
Our discussion is intended to analyze the central factors of the governance of globalization, around three basic axes:
A new way of doing politics, in order to progress towards universalizing the values of democracy at various levels of decision making, respecting the original cultural prototypes that do not contradict but to feed this process.
A new focus for economic development that is more inclusive and therefore more sustainable, raising the need - in terms of efficiency - to grow and redistribute income, all the while protecting the environment.
A new concept of international security to accompany the necessary reform and strengthening of the United Nations, with devices capable of confronting the new threats to peace without falling into unilateralism and preventive wars.
The purpose is, therefore, to contribute to the formulation of an alternative social democrat and progressive thinker able to:
- Take advantage of the opportunities of globalization while reducing the risks
- Provide a model that responds to the impact of the technology revolution, more economically and socially sustainable as well as in regard to the environment, when confronting the failure and injustice of the neoconservative proposal.
- Defender Defend the values of democracy, peace, and solidarity, as opposed to militarism and aggression, to shape a new international order.
