The 2011 Annual Report of the IDEAS Foundation is a good proof of this, showing the capacity of the Foundation to organize conferences, symposiums and seminars with major social impact, progress in the area of training activities and offer the public opinion reports and documents to generate debate with proposals on the aspects that worry the world most.
Our balance of the year 2011 is positive and we would like to highlight the activities that met the most interest from the media and citizens:
In October, the IDEAS Foundation gathered in Madrid worldwide progressive leaders at the III Global Progress Conference “A Future of Progress.” The conference saw the participation of representatives from the five continents Lula Da Silva, François Hollande, Gordon Brown, Felipe González and Alfredo Pérez Rubalcaba as well as some worldwide progressive strategists and renowned political analysts. The meeting got important media coverage and saw the signature of the declaration of principles “A G-20 Pact for growth and employment is the solution to the current crisis.”
The Scientific Committee of the IDEAS Foundation, the advisory board that defines the guiding lines in research and the course of action of the Foundation, met in July at the headquarters of the progressive think tank to exchange ideas and discuss the work proposals. José Luís Rodríguez Zapatero and Alfredo Pérez Rubalcaba as well as international scientists and experts like Joseph Stiglitz and de Philip Pettit.
In December, the II IDEAS Awards was the last activity of a productive year. Let’s not forget the Summer Campus of the Jaime Vera Institute, the presentation of the reports on “The contribution of immigration to the Spanish economy: evidences and future prospects” drafted by the Ramón Rubial Institute, “Pension system reform: How will Spanish society benefit?” by the Economics, Sustainability, Citizenship and Welfare Area or “The challenge of obesity” by the Area of Politics, Citizenship and Equality or the Seminars, Symposiums and Workshops of the Pablo Iglesias Institute in Latin America which we can find in the annual Report 2011 of the IDEAS Foundation.
Besides, the Annual Report 2011 includes the yearly figures of the Foundation. We have increased the number of articles and papers as well as the diversity of the issues discussed. Likewise, the presence of the Foundation has increased as we can see through the Internet, the social networks and above all, the attendance to our events.
The interviews, articles and reports published during the year by executives, heads of areas and contributors of the IDEAS Foundation collected in the Annual Report 2011 are the reflections of the good relation with the media.
