Austerity is not working and the 24.325 million unemployed Europeans who are suffering the devastating effects through an economic doctrine which is implementing harsh cuts in public spending in all areas are proof of this.

Across the European Union, millions of people continue to suffer at the hands of an economic doctrine that calls for harsh cuts in public spending across the board.  Economic activity across the continent continues to stagnate. In this way, economic activity continues to stagnate, numbers of economies enter recession and unemployment reaches sky-high levels.

It is obvious that in theses terms, austerity is not working. For this across the continent a coalition of progressive institutions have launched the initiative “Austerity Isn’t Working” to illustrate the human cost of austerity, compile the growing evidence that austerity isn't working, and promote fresh ideas designed to shape a fiscally responsible, pro-European, pro-growth response to the crisis.
