In order to reach a greater degree of welfare and social cohesion, Spain needs to change its economic model to achieve more sustainability, economic growth from a solid base and the creation of jobs.
The IDEAS Foundation contributes to this economic model change, putting forward new and useful proposals in strategic issues. These proposals will be guided by two principles:
1. Medium and long term perspective: there is much analysis of the economic situation in Spain but very little has the 10-20 year outlook needed to design strategic plans, as done in other developed countries.
2. Debate and participation: our papers will be the result of collaboration with experts and are open to contributions from any person with some interest in the topics analyzed.
The Economics Area expects to tackle the analysis of relevant topics with a view towards changing the Spanish economic model and contributing recommendations for the design of the economic policy.
o Design transversal policies in areas of great impact such as the job market, R&D+I, education and vocational training.
o Promote sectors of the future: what can be done to develop the most productive and innovative sectors to promote economic growth.
o Renew traditional sectors: the economic model change requires some productive sectors to be reoriented towards better economic and environmental sustainability.
